Process Index

This is a project flow productions is developing at the moment, this is a case study of how we are designing and animating game assets for a mobile game company.

Game design & Game Development

Flow is now acquiring experience for the game design sector of the game industry. This project showcases the process and the final results of our work in developing the gameplay and also animations, illustrations and others.

Process

Our process is divided in 4 sections, Discover, Define, Develop, Deliver

1

Discover

The Discover phase aims to develop real understanding of/experience with the issue. By delving into the problem as much as possible, allowing different perspectives, and listening and experiencing carefully, you prevent prejudices.
2

Define

The Define phase is intended for defining the design brief. You use the information and experience gained during the discover phase.

In this phase you can use the following tools: focus groups, predefined assessment criteria, clustering of post-its / information, customer journey mapping. We also produced a moodboard, a visual language, and game visual tests, such as power dynamics and gameplay loop solutions.
3

Develop

The Develop phase we will first diverge again. In this phase we look for as many possible solutions for the design assignment as possible. This is a creative phase where idea generation, combining perspectives, and co-creation are central. In this phase you can use these tools: brainstorm, scenarios, role plays, service blueprints, prototyping.
4

Deliver

In the Deliver phase you will try different solutions on a small scale. You say goodbye to what doesn't work and you continue to develop what does work.
The tools you can use in this phase: phasing, user testing, customer lifecycle map, role play.
01

Discover

The Discover phase aims to develop real understanding of/experience with the issue.
Moodboard 1

Moodboard

The team did extensive research for the project, both visually and also on the historical side. The images and the colours are a mix of already existing games and other illustrations provided by the client

Moodboard 2

Product Research

We developed a study on game design based on trials and tests from previous experiences. We also studied a lot of already existing games within the genre of the game the client wanted to develop, this information helped us and the client find a solution for the desired style for the game and types of gameplay

Moodboard 2

Organization

Here we proceed with organization tools to guide the team with the project, such as notion, figjam and others. Producing mind maps of the product, product direction, solutions such as in game stores and how they would work, and more.

02

Define

The Define phase is intended for defining the design brief. You use the information and experience gained during the discover phase.
Game Design 1

Character Design

Early drawings and how the character design proceeded, the team was responsible for making the illustrations and animations of the project, and how they would function in combat.

03

Development

The Develop phase we will first diverge again. In this phase we look for as many possible solutions for the design assignment as possible.
Game Design 1

Animations

Animations the team made for the project were quite complex because it involved a number of animations where we needed to relate to the interactive aspects of the game, so a flame or an arrow needed to be thought through before making it, because they would collide with the many characters present in the plane.

04

Deliver
